Prime Minister Gilani attends CJP’s reception.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani attended a reception hosted by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in honour of Justice (retd.) Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday here at the Supreme Court building on Tuesday night.The Prime Minister, upon arrival at the Supreme Court, was warmly received and welcomed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.Prime Minister Gilani shook hands with the judges, lawyers and other participants.
The Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court, the Chief Election Commissioner and a large number of Supreme Court lawyers including President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Qazi Anwar and former President SCBA Aitzaz Ahsan were also present on the occasion.
The participants were surprised to see the Prime Minister amongst them, as nobody knew about his arrival at the function.
Later in a brief chat with newsmen, the Prime Minister said, “it is our own country and we have to work unitedly. We have no differences,” he added.
To a question, the Prime Minister said, “I have come here at the dinner. There is no politics.”
Gilani said he has invited the Chief Justice for a meeting. “I have invited him (the Chief Justice) for a meeting and when he will come, we will sit together and talk”.
To another question, the Prime Minister remarked, “Everyday I say that we have good relations (with judiciary). Today, I have come here to show solidarity.”
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry saw off Prime Minister Gilani when he left the Supreme Court after attending the reception.
