SCBA puts off Long March.

LAHORE: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has taken back its earlier call of Long March but it will observe March 9 as Black Day, reported BBC on Tuesday.Commenting on the decision, media adviser SCBA Muhammad Azhar said the decision was taken to give time to the newly elected parliament. 'The long march is postponed till the formation of the new government,' he said. It is important to note that the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry was removed on March 9, 2007 and the SCBA announced to hold a long march for the restoration of Judiciary in the country. The SCBA also released a statement thereby informing the media about their decision. The press release also stated that the lawyer's movement was not against any political party but against a system.Online adds: Meanwhile, the office bearers of the Rawalpindi High Court Bar, District Bar and Islamabad Bar Associations while reiterating their resolve to lead the historic long march on 9th March have appealed to the newly elected parliamentarians to participate in order to prove their loyalty for stable democracy. They said that long march, which would end at the residence of the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, aimed at elimination of monarchy for the supremacy of parliament so that no one would be able to take over on Parliament by using 58-2B in future. President Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association, Sardar Asmat Ullah, President Rawalpindi Bar Association, Sardar Tariq, Secretary General Tariq Tanoli, Secretary General Islamabad Bar Association, Riasat Ali Azad and lawyers of the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Atthar Manullah expressed these views in a joint press conference on Tuesday. On the occasion Sardar Asmat Ullah has said that rally on 9th March would be the largest and historical long march in which participation of millions of peoples is expected. He said that the entire legal fraternity would continue to observe same long march on 9th March in future too as 'Youm-e-Tajdeed'. He also assured the elected government of possible cooperation for the restoration of real democracy. They further said that they would not compromise on the reinstatement of judges.
