ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice house has once again been locked with barbed wires surrounding it, following the rejection of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to accept the offer of conditional release.
The sources in family of the deposed CJ said an officer of interior ministry called on him and said that his family is allowed to come out, adding his (CJ’s) release is also possible if he gives solemn pledge not to go to court.
According to family sources, the deposed CJ said he would go directly to the apex court and contacting fellow judges, constitute a bench to hear Aitezaz Ahsan’s petition against the emergency and PCO, as the steps undertaken after November 3 enjoy no constitutional status, nor any executive order is needed for the restoration.
The spokesman of the deposed CJ Athar minallah Advocate said he talked to the daughter of Justice Iftikhar, who said the administration has once again locked the Chief Justice House and barbed wires have been put in place around the residence.
Deposed CJ’s sister-in-law Sumera Marree also wanted to enter Chief Justice House; but she was disallowed to see him.
