PESHAWAR: Four deposed judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) will address a lawyers convention at the high court premises here at 11 am today (Sunday).
The convention is part of the Black-Flag Week announced by the Supreme Court Bar Association to mark March 9 ñ the day Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was removed from the office of Pakistan chief justice after the filing of a presidential reference against him.
Deposed chief justice of the PHC Justice Tariq Pervez Khan and other sacked judges, including Justice Shahjehan Khan Yusufzai, Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, confirmed to The News that they would attend the moot.
NWFP Bar Council Secretary Naeem Pervez said a deposed judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Nasirul Mulk, was also expected to address the convention. He said representatives from the PHC Bar Association, its branches at circuit benches in Abbottabad and Dera Ismail Khan and district and Tehsil bar associations would participate in the convention.
