ISLAMABAD: The black Flag Week is being observed by the lawyers’ community across the country from today (Sunday), the day when Pakistan chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was "suspended" last year through a presidential reference.
Lawyers will hold protest rallies, meetings and seminars throughout the country to reinforce their ongoing movement for the restoration of the deposed judges.
In Islamabad and the provincial metropolis, lawyers will stage rallies, hold meetings and seminars to condemn the November 3 action by the then Army chief Pervez Musharraf
Lawyers will attend Aitzaz Ahsan's press conference at 11:30 am on Sunday, an "All Punjab Lawyer Representatives' Convention" at the Punjab Bar Council at 12:30 pm and then join a protest rally of the Concerned Citizens of Pakistan (CCP) outside the residence of Aitzaz Ahsan at 3:30 pm.
Black flags will be hoisted at bar buildings and lawyers would wear black armbands. Hunger strike camps will also be set up by the Lahore Bar Association, the Lahore High Court Bar Association, the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Save Judiciary Committee.
