Lawyers, civil society members and workers of political parties Friday accorded a rousing welcome to deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on his arrival at Islamabad International Airport on Friday after a four-day visit to Quetta.
As deposed chief justice came out of the airport, lawyers, political workers and civil society members showered rose petals on him and raised slogans of ‘Chief Justice Zindabad.’ Bilal, son of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was present at the airport. The airport was jam-packed with lawyers, political workers and civil society members. Lawyers of District Bar Association and High Court Bar Association, Rawalpindi Bench, accompanied the deposed chief justice in the form of a big caravan towards his residence in Judges Colony, Islamabad.
Now Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry would not go out of Islamabad for 30 days, sources told ‘The News’ on Friday. The traffic on Airport Road remained blocked for half-an-hour when the caravan of deposed chief justice was on way to Islamabad. A heavy contingent of police and security officials were present at the airport to avoid any untoward incident.
