Minallah, who is also spokesman for the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, was addressing a gathering of lawyers here at Zero Point during a two-hour sit-in.
He said that the community would not agree with any legal cover to the unconstitutional steps of the previous regime.
He criticized the fresh oath-taking of deposed judges and said the judges of Sindh High Court who did so had been appointed afresh.
“If it was restoration process then Justice Sabih-ud-Din will be the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court,” he added.
He praised civil society members, political parties and students for taking part in the movement for the restoration of the deposed judges.
President Islamabad Bar Association Haroon ur Rashid and General Secretary Islamabad Bar Association Riasat Ali Azad stated that the lawyers’ movement led to doffing of uniform by former president Pervez Musharraf and his ouster.
PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari should immediately restore judges according to the wishes and promises of late Benazir Bhutto, said the Islamabad bar general secretary.
Lawyers of twin cities staged two-hour sit-ins at Zero Point and Peshawar Mor in line with the decision taken by the lawyers’ National Coordination Committee headed by Aitzaz Ahsan.
