Rawalpindi: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), Rawalpindi, Wednesday announced that its members will stage a sit-in in front of the Parliament House until restoration of the deposed chief justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on March 9 after the long march of lawyers.
The announcement to this effect was made in a press conference after the executive body meeting of the LHCBA. LHCBA President Sardar Asmatullah chaired the meeting, while LHCBA General Secretary Malik Siddique Awan and Chaudhry Taufiq Asif were present on the occasion.
The LHCBA also announced that on February 7, the deposed chief justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, will address the LHCBA, Rawalpindi, besides administering oath to the newly-elected members of eighteen bar associations of the Rawalpindi district. The deposed CJ will also distribute lifetime membership certificates of the LHCBA among lawyers for their valiant role in the ongoing movement for the independence of the judiciary.
He appealed to trade unions, student unions and general public to participate in the long march to make it successful.
