AG adds Malik Riaz, Arsalan families to probe.

ISLAMABAD: Despite the Supreme Court's clear orders to take action against Malik Riaz, Salman Ahmed Khan and Dr Arsalan Iftikhar only, the Attorney General has, on his own, added the "family" of Dr Arsalan into the circle of his investigations.
This has been done despite the categorical statements of Bahria Town chief that he had not received any benefit from Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who, in fact, did not give him any relief in his cases. But the PPP government and its attorney general are still trying to involve the family of the Chief Justice.
This became evident in a press release issued by Attorney General Irfan Qadir, which said that he will consult top officials regarding action to be taken against Dr Arsalan Iftikhar “and his family” obviously referring to the family of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The relevant para of attorney general’s press release reads: “In these meetings, I shall be having consultations with the aforesaid officials so as to ensure transparent accountability for determination of commission of acts (if any) of corruption and corrupt practices committed by Malik Riaz Hussain & family, Dr Arsalan Iftikhar & family and Salman Ahmed Khan included all other persons connected with the allegations which may eventually be the subject of inquiry or investigation by the relevant authorities.”
In para 22 of its judgment in Arslan Iftikhar-Malik Riaz suo moto case, the two-member bench of the apex court wrote: “While this suo moto action has been brought to an end in view of the material considered above, the learned attorney general, who has assisted us in this case is fully abreast of all aspects of this case. It is our expectation that he will set the State machinery in motion so that all those who may have committed any illegal acts, including Malik Riaz Hussain, Dr Arsalan, Salman Ali Khan, etc., are pursued and brought to book with the full force and rigour of the law.”
It is very clear from the above order that the court has directed to take action against Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, Malik Riaz and Salman Ahmed Khan.
The Supreme Court, despite summoning Ali Ahmad Riaz, did not issue any order against him as there was nothing against him or any other family member of Arsalan Iftikhar as per documents/evidence presented by Malik Riaz in the apex court.
However, after disclosure of so much evidence of the conspiracy against the judiciary through a leaked videotape and presidential pardon orders, now a press release of the attorney general has established the PPP government’s hidden designs.
