Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Wednesday said that the registration of the voters and making it public was quite a headway made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Presiding over a ceremony on the eve of Voters’ National Day, Chief Justice when through SMS tried to find out his own registration in voters’ lists, it was found registered in a constituency in Quetta.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner, Justice Tasadduq Hussain was also present in the ceremony.
ECP Acting Secretary briefed the Chief Justice about the procedure of the voters’ registration and told that the registration could be transferred to other place just by filing a petition.
Chief Justice said that it was quite a headway made by ECP. He also recorded a message relating to Voters’ Day. NADRA and Pakistan Election Commission officials gave briefing to the Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry about voting systems on National Voters’ Day.
The CJP said he would cast his vote in Quetta.
