ISLAMABAD: Lawyers across the country will observe ‘Iftikhar Day’ today (Thursday) to express their full support to the cause of independence of judiciary and rule of law in the country.The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has urged all the provincial bar councils, bar associations and other members of the bar across the country to observe the day with full strength. Talking to Daily Times, PBC Vice-Chairman Mirza Aziz Akbar Baig said that the lawyers would stage peaceful protest rallies, meetings and demonstrations while observing the day. He said the legal fraternity would continue their just struggle for restoration of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and all other deposed judges of the superior courts. He demanded that the government immediately release the illegally detained lawyers including SCBA President Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmad Kurd and Justice (r) Tariq Mehmood.
