MULTAN, (APP): Leaders of PML-N and other political parties and lawyers accorded a warm welcome to Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the non-functional chief justice of the Supreme Court, at the local airport Friday evening.The prominent luminaries among those who received Justice Iftikhar Choudhry included PML-N’s Muhammad Javed Hashmi, Ihsanuddin Qureshi, LHC Multan bench bar president Mahmood Ashraf Khan, district bar president Najaf Ali Chawan, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Rao Zafar Iqbal and Tehrik-e-Insaf’s Younus Ghazi besides PML-N women activists.
Javed Hashmi, senior vice president of the PML, talking to media persons on the occasion, said that all problems the nation was facing today could be resolved through the restoration of the judiciary.
He said it is the unanimous demand of the people of Pakistan that the deposed judges be reinstated forthwith as independent judiciary is a key to dispensation of justice in the society.
The police had to resort to mild baton-charge when the workers of the PML-N allegedly became unruly and created a security problem as Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry arrived at the airport. However, no one was injured in the incident, the police said.
