CJP briefly address Malir Bar Association, leaves for Hyderabad.

KARACHI, (APP): Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of May 12, Oct 18 2007 and April 09, 2008 victims and also condoled with the bereaved families besides expressing sympathies with those injured.

In a brief and cautious address to the Malir Bar Associaitoin (MBA) Saturday afternoon, he praised the lawyers of Pakistan and especially Malir bar members for their relentless and heroic movement to restore a truly independent judiciary in the country.

He predicted that lawyers movement is due to bear fruits and the country will soon see an independent and strong judicial system.

Malir Bar Associaiton is a new bar but it played a leading role in the movement for judiciary like old and big bar associations, he said paying tribute to former and present governing body members of MBA.

Earlier, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, President Supreme Court Bar Association, also addressed the MBA. He said that at all party level he is raising the issue of restoration of all judges of superior courts and particularly Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as Chief Justice of Pakistan. It was a promise made by my leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who while speaking in front of barbed wires and barricades at CJP’s house termed him (Iftikhar Chaudhry) as her Chief Justice and vowed that national flag will flutter again at his residence.

He said he had told the men who matter that if Pakistan is to rid of terrorism and secure investment and confidence of investors and strengthen national economy, independent judiciary is a pre-requisite.

The President MBA, Karachi Bar Association and Sindh High Court Bar Association also made brief speeches on the occasion vowing to continue movement by lawyers till all judges of superior courts are restored.
