ISLAMABAD: The coordinator of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary’s US visit, Tariq Mehmood Khalid has strongly refuted the notion that deposed CJ had held any secret meeting with any US government official.
Expressing these views while addressing a press conference in Islamabad Press Club, he said that deposed CJ’s visit to US has negated the impression that US was against him (deposed CJ), as in all the ceremonies he was called as Chief Justice instead of Deposed Chief Justice.
He said that Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary was the third person in the world to be awarded ‘Freedom Award’ from Harward University. And denied that Iftikhar Chaudhary has no plan to join politics.
He said that the present leadership had strongly disappointed masses of Pakistan who were now hopeful of deposed CJ to solve their problems. He said that Iftikhar Chaudhary’s warm welcome in US and awards he received has increased people’s expectation and made his role important in the present socio-political scenario of the country.
He said that New York Bar has awarded him lifetime membership. and stated that Lawyers fraternity; civil society and masses would accord a warm welcome at Islamabad Airport on his arrival on November 28.
