Aitzaz PPP CEC membership suspended.

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party on Tuesday suspended the Central Executive Committee membership of senior party leader Ch Aitzaz Ahsan and in this connection, the show-cause notice was despatched to his residence and e-mail addresses.

The leading figure of the lawyers movement Ch Aitzaz Ahsan was charged with violating the party discipline and openly criticising not only the party policies, but President Asif Ali Zardari for not reinstating the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other deposed judges of the higher judiciary.

Farhatullah Babar, spokesperson to President Zardari, confirmed that Aitzaz Ahsan’s CEC membership had been suspended.

PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badr said being the Secretary General of the party, he had suspended the CEC membership of Aitzaz Ahsan and he could appeal against the decision with Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who had powers to restore his membership.

Jahangir Badr said the decision of suspending the membership of Aitzaz Ahsan was made by the CEC of the party and only Zardari could revert the decision.

He further said Aitzaz Ahsan was informed about the party decision through a show-cause notice despatched to his residential address and the same was also e-mailed to him. Aitzaz Ahsan’s wife is said to have received the notice.

On the other hand, Aitzaz Ahsan said he had not received the show-cause notice and he could respond to it only after going through the contents of the notice.
