Lawyers ‘should not be afraid of present govt’: CJP.

Islamabad: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary said legal fraternity of this country should be ready to face hard time during their ‘long march’ and ‘dhara’ and should not have any fear from this civil government as they have faced a dictator’s government previously.

Justice Iftikhar said this while talking to the lawyers’ delegation of Islamabad Bar Association here Monday. Lawyers of Islamabad Bar Association also observed boycotted courts and staged a protest rally in the premises of Islamabad courts.

“Legal fraternity of this country should remain united and should not feel fear from this civil government as they have faced an army dictator and forced him to resign from his office,” said the deposed CJ.

He said legal fraternity of this country is really struggling for the true case of independence of judiciary and they have given many sacrifices for this purpose. The lawyers’ delegation included Islamabad Bar Association President Niaz Ullah Niazi, General Secretary Riasat Ali Azad and many other lawyers.

Islamabad Bar Association General-Secretary Riasat Ali Azad while talking to ‘The News’ said legal fraternity of this country is ready to face any hard time to achieve their target to restore all deposed judges. Riasat said that Islamabad Bar is ready to host legal fraternity of this country in ‘long march’. “All the participants of the ‘long march’ would stage ‘dhara’ till the restoration of all deposed judges including justice Iftikhar,” he said.
