SC approved MQM’s review petition against delimitation.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has accepted the Muttahidda Quami Movement’s (MQM) review petition against delimitation of constituencies in Karachi for hearing.
A five-member bench of apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the review petition against SC’s order on delimitation on Wednesday.
The court admitted the petition after removing official objections from it. The petition had challenged court orders of November 26 and 28.
During the hearing, CJP remarked that the orders of the above-mentioned dates were issued in the light of October 6 judgment, asking why the petition hadn’t challenged it.
Barrister Farogh Naseem, counsel for MQM, said that his clients had no reservations over October 6 verdict.
Talking to newsmen outside Supreme Court, Farogh said that they have challenged only those directives that were given by implementation bench on November 26 and 28. Under the law, new constituencies cannot be formed before census, stating that census is carried out after every 10 years in Pakistan while the census that started in 2008 haven’t been completed as yet.
He said the court itself had ruled in its October 6 2012 verdict that the process should be carried out as per law.
