Lawyers struggling for free judiciary, not for me: CJP.

Islamabad: Chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that lawyers are not struggling for him or for any other judge but they are struggling for the cause of free and fair judiciary in the country.

He said this while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Bar Association lawyers here on Thursday. The deposed chief justice urged the lawyers not to use bad language or criticise any judge or lawyer. “It may be the compulsion of the lawyers and judges who are not with us in this movement and they may be forced to act like that,” the CJ said. So the fellow lawyers and judges serving under the present regime may not be condemned, he added.

Justice Iftikhar said that lawyers’ are not only struggling to restore him or any other deposed judge, but they are fighting for the restoration of the judiciary in the country. He appreciated the lawyers saying that their hard and restless struggle would be a success.

Islamabad Bar Association Secretary Riasat Ali Azad told The News that lawyers, civil society members and political workers would reach the residence of the deposed CJ on November 3 at 11 am from where they would move in shape of big rally and would reach at the High Court Bar Association by using Islamabad Highway.
