MULTAN Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Ali Ahmad Kurd and a leader of lawyers' movement has said that the restoration of judiciary is a must for washing out the impression of a "failed state."
Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, he said that neither any political party had used the lawyers movement, nor will be anybody allowed to use this movement. He said that lawyers will start long march on March 9 if judiciary not restored and in this historic long march not only lawyers but students, farmers, labourers, political workers and civil society workers would participate.
He demanded of the government to stop military operations in Fata and Balochistan. He said that Balochistan was the most deprived province in the country. He said that Ms. Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for the protection of rights of public and only by the supremacy of law and constitution the rights of the people could be protected.
When asked about solving the issue by dialogue with government, he said that dialogue could only be done when there is need to discuss an issue and solve it but coalition government in Murree Declaration and Islamabad declaration accepted our one point agenda for restoration of judiciary and reinstatement of Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry.
