CJP Chaudhry will unroll his political agenda on Dec 25.

Islamabad: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday kept everyone guessing about his political ambitions and avoided questions whether he was going to launch his own political party or not. When pressed by the media persons, he only said he would announce about it on December 25, 2015. Addressing a crowded media conference at his residence in F-10 sector, the former chief justice, however, demanded a high-powered inquiry commission to expose‘handlers’ and ‘sponsors’ of Imran Khan who according to him paralyzed the normal life by staging a sit-in in the heart of Islamabad for over four months.

Justice Chaudhry said an inquiry must be held to know why Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan blamed a large number of personalities and state institutions without any regard for their prestige, repute or status. It should be probed who was behind him and on his bidding he was doing all that, he further said.

According to Justice Chaudhry, Imran Khan accused the Parliament, blocked the route of the honourable Members of the Parliament, judges of the Supreme Court, officers and staff of dozens of government departments and institutions and this he did without any concern for the law of the land. “All those factors that led Imran Khan to unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional path should be brought to the public knowledge,” said the former chief justice of the country.

Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who looked quite calm and confident was addressing the media persons only three days after the judicial inquiry commission probing rigging charges into the general elections of 2013, submitted its report in the Prime Minister’s Office declaring general elections fair and legal. Justice Chaudhry candidly shared his views with media and hoped the commission’s report would serve all the critics of the elections a right lesson. Justice Chaudhry said Imran Khan kept on hurling rigging charges in the May 2013 elections but failed to prove anything. Now another inquiry should be held to expose his motives behind all that fuss.

He said everyone in Pakistan needs to respect and obey the law of the land as no one is above law. Turning his guns to Imran Khan, ex-Chief Justice said Imran Khan’s workers not only disturbed the normal life they also attacked the PTV building and blocked the Constitutional Avenue for more than four months. This was tantamount to blocking the courts of the country from delivering justice and the state from functioning normally. Both the acts are serious crimes and Imran Khan should be tried for that, he demanded.

About a question whether he was going to launch his own party the former chief justice said he would unveil his plan on December 25, this year, on the birthday of the Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah the Founder of the country.
