Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk to retire on August 16.


ISLAMABAD: Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk will retire on August 16 as Chief Justice of Pakistan. He will be 65 on August 16. He was born on August 17, 1950 in the valley of Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was awarded with degree of Barrister-at-Law by the Inner Temple, London (UK) in the year 1976.

He was called to the Bar in the year 1977. He practiced Law for more than 17 years as an Advocate. He also remained Visiting Faculty member at Khyber Law College, Peshawar, at Peshawar University and at N.W.F.P. Provincial Services Academy, Peshawar. He was also elected twice as President of High Court Bar Association in the years 1990 and 1993.

He also remained Advocate General, N.W.F.P. in the year 1993.He was elevated as Judge, Peshawar High Court on June 04, 1994 and then elevated as Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court on May 31, 2004. He was elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 05, 2005 and was appointed as Chief Justice of Pakistan on July 06, 2014.

Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, the Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan after the Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk will be new Chief Justice as per seniority rule and will take oath of his office on 17 of this month.

President Mamnoon Hussain will administer oath to Justice Jawwad S Khawaja as Chief Justice of Pakistan. The oath taking ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr. - APP.
